Gaelscéal, Ireland’s newest and brightest weekly Irish language newspaper has been officially launched by the new Minister for Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs, Pat Carey and RTÉ News presenter, Siún Nic Gearailt.
Gaelscéal offer readers across Ireland and abroad a fresh perspective on current affairs; international, national and regional news; education; sport; lifestyle & leisure and Irish-language affairs.
The Gaelscéal publication is managed by Torann na dTonn Teoranta, a partnership between the Connacht Tribune and Eo Teilifís, who won a four-year contract from Foras na Gaeilge to produce a weekly Irish language newspaper.
Proactive has worked with Torann na dTonn Teoranta to bring Gaelscéal to life online in advance of the publications official launch date through the launch of its official website, www.gaelsceal.ie. Gaelsceal.ie is an interactive meeting place in Irish featuring audio, video, local photos, opinion pieces, news and views and the digital edition of the Gaelscéal publication.
In developing Gaelscéal, Torann na dTonn Teoranta's aim is to connect Irish speakers and lovers of Irish with each other in Ireland and around the world. Proactive continues to work with Gaelscéal to develop and enhance the site for users and to ensure that users interact with the site, providing comment, feedback, news and photos.
The site's alreading growing fan base on facebook is testiment to the popularity of the Irish publication and website.
